Community Heroes and Workshops

Learning Through Experience

At Wundoroo, we believe in learning through experience. By bringing the wider community into our classrooms, we give children a window into the real world — and the people who make it better.

Children wearing community hero hats

Wundoroo Academy regularly invites community professionals — including firefighters, police officers, and other local heroes — to visit and engage with our children. These sessions allow children to understand the importance of these roles in keeping our community safe, and to learn firsthand about teamwork, courage, and helping others.

Beyond hero visits, the academy organises workshops spanning the arts, crafts, and hands-on science activities. These experiences are designed to encourage creativity, build confidence, and develop social collaboration skills in a fun and meaningful way.

When children learn from and alongside real people doing real work, something powerful happens. Curiosity is sparked, empathy is deepened, and a sense of civic pride and belonging begins to take root.
